Pet Assistance Inc.
Where every pet matters. Helping keep pets alive since 1973
$ Grants funded
Saving Pets’ lives is what we do! PAi aims to keep pets in their own homes, even in times of financial and medical crises.
Helping owners keep their pets
It’s cheaper, and a lot more humane to help a person in need with their emergency vet bills, than to send the pet off to a shelter, either to be cared for with tax dollars or be euthanized.
Top Rated With Great Nonprofits
Many nonprofits have hefty overhead costs and very little of the funds ever make it to the actual cause. Pet Assistance Inc does not waste funds – everything goes directly to paying for animal medical expenses.
Our Mission
Pet Assistance, Inc. supports pets who need urgent or emergency veterinary care when their owners simply cannot afford treatment. Many of the people are elderly, unemployed, or living on very limited incomes. Their pets are their comfort, their stability, their emotional support — especially in the hardest seasons of life. Pets are family. They get us through grief, loneliness, illness, depression … and the world feels safer and kinder because of them. How can you put a price on a pet’s life?

"I took Daphne to an emergency hospital because she was so sick, but I couldn't afford all the diagnostics. I was in tears, not knowing what to do...and then Pet Assistance called me in response to my application for help. They motivated me to keep trying and that meant a lot to me. We found out Daphne has Cushing's disease, and I'm soooo relieved to find that it is treatable. To be cost effective, we will go to a regular vet for more testing and follow up, and then put her on medication. I will be able to maintain her from there. Thank you so much, Pet Assistance, for guiding us in the right direction. You are a life saver!" - Gina
Getting Help
Getting a grant for emergency assistance
Finding a hospital
Pet Assistance, Inc. financially helps solely with independent, privately owned hospitals or low-cost hospitals.
We do not financially help with emergency hospitals, “chains,” franchises, veterinary school hospitals, or corporate-owned specialty hospitals because of their exorbitant charges.
Exceptions may be made only when, in our opinion, a specialist is really needed. PAI has very limited funds and does not help with overpriced procedures. If we do help, our grants are between $100 – $350.
Limitations
PAi cannot financially help with a pet’s care unless the owner can contribute.
PAi financially helps longtime pet owners who have always cared for their pet, yet find they cannot afford an emergency problem.
PAi does NOT help with unnecessary blood work, routine care, costly diagnostics (MRIs, CT scans, etc.) or ongoing illness.
We do not financially help for procedures that have already been done.
****Our aid often comes in the form of guidance, advice and referrals. This alone has saved pet owners thousands of dollars.
Before You Apply
We need a written estimate from the veterinarian. If the cost is higher than the norm for the procedure we cannot help. We may refer you to a lower cost veterinarian we have worked with in the past and has proven to provide excellent care.
